It’s that time of year!

It’s that time of year!  SHOP HOP!   I’ve participated every year in this event – many quilting stores across the state organize a ‘shop hop’  it’s a great chance (excuse) to go out with friends and support our ‘local’ quilt shops and build up our fabric ‘stashes’.  I’ll be on the road at 7am heading south.  Will share some pictures of my purchases!  We’ll be hitting 12 shops over the next 2 days.  To learn more about this tradition now in it’s 9th year use this link: http://www.vermontshophop.com/

On the wall in my quilting studio

One of the most exciting things that has happened to me as a quilter was to have an original design quilt selected to be part of the American Textile History Museum’s exhibit of quilts called “From the Mills”.

This is the quilt:

The challenge was to use nine fabrics from the collection in the quilt.  I used a combination of applique in the center and piecing around the perimeter of this medallion-style quilt.  To see more of the entire collection chosen for the show follow this link: http://athm.org/exhibitions/past_exhibitions/fromthemills3.php

This quilt is hanging in my studio and I get to enjoy it every day!  Many of my clients have heard the story behind this quilt.

Vermont Quilt Festival is around the corner!

Vermont Quilt Festival http://www.vqf.org is a VERY popular summer event.  This show offers beautiful displays of quilts for the competition, special exhibits (often of priceless antique quilts) and classes are offered from top teachers –  not to mention the vendors who are at the show, a great place to buy more fabric or new tools on the market.

Registration for classes has begun!  It will certainly keep me hopping over the next several months as I am Registrar Chair for 2014-2016.

Here is the ad I have placed in the brochure as a means of growing my business:
